1. Visiting the website aidshilfe-beratung.de

This section explains the collection and processing of data in connection with visiting this website.

Types of Data Processed

When you click on this website and its subpages, or when you retrieve a file, data about this process is stored and processed in a log file for a maximum of seven days. Before storage, each data record is anonymized by modifying the IP address.

Specifically, the following data is stored for each access/retrieval:

  • Anonymized IP address
  • Date and time
  • Page accessed/name of the file retrieved
  • Amount of data transferred
  • Notification of whether the access/retrieval was successful

When individual pages are accessed, so-called temporary cookies are used for technical service provision. These session cookies do not contain any personal data and expire after your visit to the website ends.

A statistics program only collects anonymized data about the number of accesses and visitors to the website. This is necessary for our internal analysis of visitor numbers.

2. Consultation

This section explains the collection and processing of data in connection with the use of our consultation services, i.e., how we handle the data of those seeking advice, which is generated during login and through the consultation process.

Data Collection During Registration

To use our counseling services, you must register and create an account. You will need to choose a nickname and a password that only you know and that the counseling team will not have access to. Please ensure that you use this nickname and password only for this counseling service and not for any other accounts.

If you choose to provide an email address, you may be notified by email when you receive a response to your email counseling request and/or if you wish to use the “Forgot Password” function, which is only available via email.

Categories of data subjects

Legal basis

The legal basis is consent (pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DGSVO), which must be given during registration by ticking a box.

Recipients of the Data

Your login data and your request are transmitted directly to a server via a secure data tunnel (SSL), from which they are not forwarded (web-based). They are read and answered on the server. This means your request is sent directly to the counseling team via an encrypted connection, and the team also logs into the counseling software. All full-time and volunteer staff members of www.aidshilfe-beratung.de are bound by confidentiality.

Individual counseling sessions may be used anonymously for internal training purposes.

Our counseling service works with a software provider that is contractually obligated to adhere to our data protection standards.

Data is temporarily stored at the server provider to protect against attacks on the server.

Exception: Suicide Announcement

Since we are subject to legal requirements regarding the offense of failure to render assistance (§ 323c – Failure to Render Assistance) when a suicide intention is clearly expressed, and we may be liable to prosecution if we fail to take action after such an announcement, we are obligated to involve law enforcement authorities in cases of clearly expressed suicide intentions.

Data Deletion

You can delete your account and individual consultation requests yourself at any time and without giving a reason.

If you no longer use the consultation service, your account and all consultation records will be automatically deleted one year after your last login.
